Things From Movies That OFFENDED People In 2017
In the recent past we have seen that there have been many things which have offended people in general across the country. In 2017, while there have been instances where some got offended on social media, some managed to offend the Censor Board. We bring you a compilation of 14 such things from films which offended Indians, in general

# Sanjay Leela Bhansali directed Padmavati offended
several people who claim the director has distorted history. The sets of the
movie was vandalised and threats issued in the names of lead actress Deepika
Padukone. Also, SLB was provided ample security.

# Critically acclaimed movie, Sexy Durga, created quite
an uproar for hurting religious sentiments for referring to Goddess Durga as
Sexy. The film had to be screened as S Durga during MAMI, and at IFFI it was
just removed from the screening despite being nominated.

# A photo of Mahira Khan smoking with Ranbir Kapoor
created quite an uproar and the actress was slut-shamed by trollers saying how
an actress could smoke, and that too, when she is Muslim. Lots of other celebs
came out in her defense stating that she was an independent woman and should be
allowed to do whatever she wants.

# Lisa Haydon offended trolls who couldn't see a photo of
her breastfeeding her baby. She was body-shamed, and told that things like
breastfeeding needs to be done inside closed quarters of one's home and nothing
of it was to be mentioned on social media. Lisa, however, received support from
the film and media fraternity as in a country like India, the awareness for
breastfeeding needs to be spread.

# Sonu Nigam’s tweets against forced religiousness and
the usage of loudspeakers at places of worship hurt many. He had a simple
query posed at all religions alike, however, some Muslim fundamental groups
took offence. Syed Sha Atef Ali Al Quaderi, vice president, West Bengal Minority
United Council, promised to shell out 10 lakh to anyone who would shave
Sonu's head. Sonu called for a press conference and shaved his head in front of
all --- and demanded the money. As usual, Syed Sha Atef Ali Al Quaderi put
forth some bogus reason and backed out.

# Ex Bigg Boss contestant Sofia Hayat's swastika tattoo
on the bottom of her feet hurt religious sentiments. People opined that a
religious symbol should be given more respect and shouldn't be touching any
person's feet. Sofia was badmouthed by religious leaders and their followers
even on social media.

# Censor board got offended by the film, Lipstick Under
My Burkha, because it was a 'lady-oriented movie'. The film was not given a
clearance and finally after a lot of efforts by the makers, the film eventually
saw the light of the day. It received a thunderous response from the audience
who now questioned the legitimacy of the censor board's authority to give cuts
to a movie.

# Lawyers were offended by the title of Jolly LLB 2
because they thought it mocked their profession. Akshay Kumar was in the
news not for the promotional activities of the film, but for hurting the
sentiments of the lawyers. Finally a disclaimer had to be attached at the start
of the film saying that all was just fiction and nothing else.

# CBFC was offended by Hanuman Chalisa in the film
Phillauri. The reason was that the religious shlokas are supposed to ward off
evil, however, in the movie it couldn't ward off a ghost. It was argued that
audiences' trust in the religious chants might reduce, and that's why it was
asked to be lessened in the film.

bikini during Ramadan. Fatima gave it back to the trollers by posting more pics
of her in swimsuit from the same shoot.

and comparing a dog with a baby were considered insensitive. People took
offence at Shahid Kapoor's wife and started trolling her on social media
stating that she was demeaning the efforts put in by mothers across the
country.
